It looks like it’s this time of year again, I begin seeing young foxes on the fields and… laying dead on the roads…
Foxes may not be a problem in some areas, but if you want to stay on top of the fox population, it’s probably a good time to start shooting the cubs before they get more experience and become wiser and harder to get. From now on, when the cubs are on their own and during harvest, in one particular area I am going to spend more time than usually trying to get as many as I can. It may not be the most challenging task, but has to be done.
Just a quick explanation to why I don’t shoot foxes all year round – I don’t like shooting a mature fox knowing there are dependent young in a den somewhere, and besides, foxes are protected in my country in April and May.
